Midlife Crisis and New Opportunities

Day 1 of …the unknown

2 Favorite Quotes: “It is never too late to start living the Life you wish you had.” ~Lailah Gifty Akita & “If you can’t go straight ahead, go around the corner.” ~Cher

I find myself where many do…. at a Crossroads > Where & How to work…

Do I continue down the “Traditional” path of a typical 9 to 5 job? (with hopefully the evenings and weekends off so that I can interact with my husband and parents & my sister all under 1 roof… more on how this came to be later.)

Or, do I try an “Unconventional” route? While I have never done this before, it might give me the most Flexibility of working “hours” and work/life Balance so many strive to achieve. (I’ve always have been a traditionalist before; working for a paycheck while they sort out the backend accounting)

I do like the “comfortableness” of the familiar & I am truly scared of the “unknown”…. scared of not making enough money consistently to support not just the weekly financial needs, but also the extra needed to cover health care costs & the occasional fun event or two on the weekends.

However, I need to stretch myself if I truly want a new Life – the one that I dream about… The Life where…

  1. I can pay off all my past medical debt. (& why are the Insurance companies not covering more??)
  2. I can be there more for my elderly parents as they transition out of being independent into dependent. (so not ready for this!)
  3. I can help Others out. I want to pay it forward for those who have helped me out in the past, and also for those who I know, who are struggling now.
  4. I can travel often to see family and dear friends in various parts of the US.
  5. I can become a Homeowner, instead of a Renter (& maybe even design my own dream home! Wouldn’t that be something!)

So, it comes down to 2 main words: “Grit & Growth”. Grit – how to dig DEEP into myself to find the strength, courage, curiosity and tenacity to propel me into the future! And Growth -for out of Chaos and a challenge overcome, comes new learning & understanding, and a new Level Up!

In closing: The Reason for my Blog Name: I am at my Wits’ end. I kind of fell into this by Accident. I need to try something new. I can always fall back on the old & familiar. Thank you for Listening.
